Treating Electrosensitivity and Other Diseases

Dr Klinghardt realized that people that were being diagnosed with other “better known” diseases were in fact electrosensitive. For instance, doctors were diagnosing patients with ADHD (Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) when the trigger was electromagnetic fields. In patients with diabetes he experimented applying EMF shielding and he observed that they needed less medication or that their blood sugar levels were stable.
He developed a successful protocol for treating Lyme disease, which again involved shielding EMFs from the patients environment.
He conducted a study on the EMF levels in the bedrooms of pregnant women whose children were autistic, comparing them with EMF levels of mothers who had healthy children. The radiation levels were significantly higher in the group of mothers whose children were autistic.  He developed a treatment protocol for dealing with autism which involved reducing electrosmog.

By way of introduction to the philosophical model that Dr Klinghardt uses to understand illness here is a short video presentation (with transcript) and below that are his recommendations for treating electrosensitivity.

7 Factors That Cause Chronic Health Problems

“The 7 factors are those issues that are causing chronic health problems.

1.The foundational one, I’ll just read you through, the first foundation one is toxicity and chronic infections.

2. biochemical abnormalities, is usually referred to as genetic issues.

3. is structural problems, the type of stuff that chiropractors and osteopaths deal with.

4. It’s what we call in Europe interference fields. That any structure in the body can become electrically active like an additional pace maker in the heart. When some heart cells become dysfunctional, they’re often scars and autonomic ganglia in the body than can arise to behave, electrically speaking, abnormally and cause trouble in the body. This is less known in the US and in Britain and more known in the Spanish speaking countries, France and in Germany.

5.The fifth very serious issue and growing issue is electromagnetic radiation from cell phone broadcasts, from household current, from radio broadcasting, television broadcasting, from wireless internet, and other household items.

6.The sixth is food allergies can cause significant health problems.

7. Last but not least is the realm of psycho-emotional, spiritual, and social problems.

So I will take you now through the five levels of healing and will remind you of where these 7 factors can be seen.

5 Koshas System of Healing

This model of healing arises from the old Yogi tradition. Patanjali, the father of modern Yoga, several thousand years ago wrote about a system of healing that he called the 5 Koshas. The 5 Koshas can be translated in to the 5 bodies or the 5 envelopes that we have. First body is the physical body. The second body is the energy body; I’ll get into that in a moment. The third level is the mental body. The fourth level is the intuitive body or the dream body as the shamans call it, and the fifth level is the spirit. Now let me take you through these levels in a way that maybe helpful in understanding what you can actually do with this system.

Autonomic Response Testing

I want to talk about ART and I want to start in the beginning to introduce you to some of the tools that we’re using: the tools of the trade. ART stands for Autonomic Response Testing. We’re simply looking for ways of showing if a person goes into a stressed state or into a healing state. In more physiological terms we want to see, for example, if somebody eats wheat if it activates the sympathetic nervous system and creates a stress reaction or does it create a nice relaxed power sympathetic dominant healing state. When the person was hungry, you fill the stomach: the person is happy, everything is relaxed. Many tools are available in medicine and in psychology to determine if somebody is in a healing state or in stressed state. Usually these tools are referred to as bio feedback tools and I have experimented with all of them, many of them. They’re also used in a form of lie detectors, which are also useful and can be used for this work.

However, we found that by using feedback from the muscles of the patient we get more accurate readings that are not distorted by inserting an instrument between us and the patients. Many patients today react to anything electronic that you put on their body, and what you will then measure is their reaction to the instrument rather than the reaction to what you’re trying to test in the patient. Of course these principles have been examined in the field of kinesiology and the field of Chinese pulse testing.

There are many tools that use various indicators in the body to determine the state of the autonomic nervous system. What we found out as a very simple principle is this, for example, if the patient is deficient in vitamin C and I introduce vitamin C in the patient, it will create a healing state rather than a stress state. If a patient is toxic with mercury and I will introduce tiny amounts of more mercury in the system, the patient will respond with a stress state. That is pretty self evident. What takes a little stretch of the imagination is that how does a patient know that I’m introducing mercury when I just put it in his hands or close to him?

Energetic Immune System

I answer that with one of my deepest learning experiences I had with this. This was a patient who was allergic to local anesthetics, just to keep it short, and went into deep anaphylactic reactions every time a dentist used a local anesthetic. I tried to test her on local anesthetic just using muscle testing. Anytime my assistant came within 6 feet or 8 feet of this patient with the little tray that she brought into my room with local anesthetics on it, the patient would have an anaphylactic reaction. We ended up double and triple blinding this experiment, where neither I knew whether the nurse was with the local anesthetic nor the patient. We could, within half an inch, determine how far away from the patient the local anesthetic had to be and the patient would react.

Now, I’m assuming that it was not just a gifted patient; one patient in 6 billion who had the ability to sense things in the field outside away from the body. I do know it’s a property of all higher evolved animals. It’s very well studied in sharks. They can detect their victim through their automatic nervous system up to 16 feet away. They form an inner image of how the person looks like even in the murkiest waters, and many other animals have been shown to have this sense. I call it an energetic immune system that responds to the presence of a particular substance away from the body, and that is the reflex that they’re using and that is the only thing that will take a stretch of imagination. Is it easy to prove? Absolutely, we can give somebody who’s had got wheat allergy wheat to eat and record his heart rate variability, that’s a quantitative assessment of the autonomic nervous system, and demonstrate a stress reaction.”

Dr Klinghardt’s Recommendations for Treating Electrosensitivity (ES)

1. measure the levels of electromagnetic radiation in your home using an EMF meter, and try to reduce exposure

2. measure your body voltage. Monitor any buildup of electricity in your system and discharge the static electricity

3. use EMF shielding to reduce exposure using paints and nets

4. create a low EMF environment in the bedroom, where this is not possible for all the bedroom then an EMF canopy should be used

5. detoxing after shielding, this can take up to six weeks, he recommends Chlorella for this

6. use protective clothing made from silver weed cloth where necessary while recovering

7. use of Graham Stetzer (GS) filters to clean up dirty electricity from wiring and electrical sockets

EMF Exposure and Disease

Dr Klinghardt’s approach brings together Western medicine and knowledge from ancient civilizations. (You can find out more about his methods here). He is one of the few practitioners that have been able to do this AND his approach recognizes the importance of EMFs in healing. Whether you are electrosensitive or are just interested in protecting yourself from EMFs there is much to learn from studying his work.

Well it seems there are some countries where this is even worse. In South Africa, for instance, there seems to be a total lack of legislation and controls on this issue.

Alwyn Lewies has paid a high price for this lack of regulation, here is his story.

“My name is Alwyn Lewies and I am 38 years old. I am giving a short background of my life with an illness called Electromagnetic Sensitivity (ES) which I have been struggling with for the past 12 years since exposure from a cell mast.

It started in 2000 with a cell phone tower that was erected at my workplace in Wapadrand, Pretoria. We were approached by a cell phone company who was interested in putting up a tower on my premises and we were assured that the tower would have no effect on us at all.

Unfortunately this wasn’t the truth but the exact opposite than what we were told. Within a brief period since the erection of the first tower, another one appeared only 80 meters away. Four months after these installations, my first symptoms started to appear.

While being at work, I experienced a ‘burning’ sensation in my head. The pain far exceeded that of a normal headache. After going to my doctor, I was prescribed anti-depressants because the doctor said I was experiencing work stress. We thought the stress was the cause for my headaches.

In the beginning my headaches were painful, but bearable. But after some time, the pain became excruciating. I then started to go from one doctor to the next, underwent several tests and brain scans, but all reflected as normal. I started monitoring my pain and realized that I only experienced pain after making a phone call on my mobile phone, and when being close to a cell phone tower.

Research confirmed my assumptions that it was in fact the radiation from these devices that caused my headaches. A short time after, all other electronic devices such as TV’s, electric motors etc. started to affect me. To an extend, I was able to avoid some of these devices, but the cell phone towers were popping up all over the city and was a constant obstacle.

The radiation started to affect me so badly that I wasn’t able to function in any way. I started to experience a new symptom which was the constant ringing in my ears.

As time passed, matters got worse, and I met Dr. Cloete in 2004. For the first time, I was diagnosed with EMS and it was a relief to finally put a name to my illness.

Studies showed that much research has been done, but a cure has yet to be discovered. The best I could do was to boost my immune system as much as possible.

EMS entails that the person is allergic to radiation and electronic devices these allergies affect me the same way that someone suffers from constant hay fever and can’t stand those allergies. Due to the density of the radiation levels, my pain became unbearable to handle. My body simply couldn’t cope with those levels of radiation.

I have met a few people who are also being affected by the radiation.

In 2004 I was forced to seek employment elsewhere at a construction company as my body couldn’t handle the strain of the towers in such close proximity. After two years had passed, I resigned once more after all got worse and I was barely functioning and couldn’t keep track of my thoughts.

Due to a lack of income, we had to sell our house and our family moved in with my parents. The only room where I felt the least pain was on the dining room floor. The electricity had to be switched off at the main switch in order for me to sleep. During the day, I was confined to this small space, because this was the only place in the house with the lowest radiation.

With no improvement after some time had passed, an opportunity came along for me to stay on a sheep farm in the Karoo. My family moved to Cape Town to stay with her parents for the birth of our son. My health improved but the distance between us became a problem. I had to get closer, but I couldn’t move back into the radiation.

I went back to be with them in Cape Town, but I had to sleep in my car every night. I drove to different places to try out where I felt best, but it was very unsafe. This continued for two weeks. After the birth of my son, I was forced to find a place to stay as a family. In June 2007 we found a small cottage in Gordon’s Bay where the radiation was minimal. I was only able to sleep on the kitchen floor where the radiation was lowest. The situation wasn’t ideal, but we were together, and this lifted our spirits.

We managed to stay there for almost a year, but in the beginning of 2009 I felt a new signal in the area which was very strong. The sleeplessness and pain started again and I couldn’t be in the house any longer.

Once more the nightmare started, and I didn’t know what to do, or where to go. The anxiety and uncertainty I experienced was frightening.

The following thoughts were flashing through my mind. I had to leave my wife and two small kids once more and they were too young to understand why I was abandoning them once more. The idea of me having to sleep in my car again was unthinkable and I didn’t know which pain was worse – the burning sensation in my head, or the heartache.

The turmoil continued for two weeks as I slept in my car next to the side of the road where there was no reception. Sleeping in discomfort and fear, the only times I went home was to eat and clean. It was then when I learned about a lady outside a West Coast town called Clanwilliam, who had also been effected from antennae on her office in Cape Town and now also as a result suffered from the same illness and had to leave her family.

I packed the car and left for Clanwilliam, but was unable to afford the accommodation. After taking a trail into the bush, I stayed next to the river without food for several days. I later ended up in a small town in the Cederberg called Wupperthal. It is very secluded from modern society and has no cell phone reception. I managed to rent a small cottage from the Moravian Church who owns the town. There I found relief from my constant pain.

Meanwhile, my family tried their best to visit, but I ended up seeing them only two weekends a month. The distance of 400 km and a very bad gravel road made it a time consuming trip with two young children.

During this period, I did extensive travelling up and down the West Coast and Cederberg and closer to Somerset West in search for a save place to stay, only to come up empty handed. At that stage I spent every second weekend in my car.

In 2009 I had to leave Wupperthal because I wasn’t allowed to rent accommodation for a long period of time seeing that I wasn’t a member of the Moravian church. My only option was to move back to Pretoria. One day I met an engineer who specializes in radiation blockage. He assured me that it was possible to isolate a room from radiation although it would be costly.

During 2010 I did extensive travelling between Pretoria and Cape Town in order to build a safe room, but due to a lack of finances and proper materials it was unsuccessful. I had to remain in Pretoria. In the beginning of 2011 it became clear that my wife was under enormous pressure and I realized that I urgently had to try and get back to them. She struggled to manage with us being apart, the kids and a demanding work.

This forced me to go back and support my family to the best of my ability, while facing the daily agony, no matter how bad. After three months, my body started falling apart from the constant radiation and living in my car. The spot where I spent most of my time was 30 km away from my home.

During this period, I have been inspected by the police, harassed and threatened by people under the influence. On one occasion I was nearly killed when a drunken person crashed his vehicle a few meters from mine. Throughout 2011 I stayed with my family for a period of only 3 months while I spent over 90 nights in my car, thereafter I spent the rest of the year in isolation. It is only by the grace of God that I have managed to stay alive and well through these past years.

I suffered several attacks, similar to epileptic attacks whenever I was exposed to the elements for too long. My wife and I decided that it really was impossible for me to be with them because the next step could be fatal. In the beginning of June 2011 I kissed my family goodbye and left for Pretoria. It felt unreal but I had to push forward for survival.

On arrival at my parents’ house I was shocked beyond my wildest belief. Their house was no longer safe for me to stay at. I started feeling the agonizing sypmtoms where I had previously coped before. A tower had been erected within very close proximity and although I wasn’t sure what type of tower it was, the signal was too strong for me to handle. I thought I had finally run out of options.

I didn’t know where to go or where I was going to sleep. I drove out to a farm 230 km outside Pretoria, close to Polokwane, where I created a man-made tent in the middle of the bush. I have been here since then and haven’t seen my family. In the last 6 months while being thousands of kilometers away.

At this moment I am lonely and cut off from the outside world, friends and family. The only reason I remain here is to sleep and survive. There’s no tower in close proximity of the farm. During the past month my tent, mattress and belongings have been flooded during summer rainstorms.

During the past few years, I have missed several events in my families’ life which can’t be bought. My daughters’ first tooth pulled her first bicycle ride, her first school concert, and my son’s first pictures he drew and the first time he slept without his diaper. I miss the love and support of my wife.

Many other people are starting to show similar symptoms, but it’s being swept under the carpet because the radiation is a multi million rand industry.

In countries such as Sweden, Canada, France, Switzerland and Japan there are certain laws in place to protect citizens from these health hazards. The South African authorities should start looking into this matter because it is becoming a growing concern.

Should the cell phone industry be willing to look into adjusting the cell phone transmissions close to my home in Somerset West, I may have a chance at living a reasonably normal life with my family. I haven’t lived in my home, nor have I slept next to my wife on the same bed in the last 6 years. During the past 6 years I have moved more than 10 times. At his stage I have spent more than 300 nights in my car.

Most of these places are barely livable conditions to stay in. I am tired of being on the run and my body is exhausted I have led a nomadic life and been deprived of my rights being a husband, father and friend. Meanwhile my children are growing up without their father and I’m not leading a fulfilling life. I have a need to be part of my family’s lives, but instead we’re being pulled apart. This is the worse punishment that anyone can endure.

I will continue to fight until the end. I owe it to myself and my family to seek a way to find a normal life. This letter is my last attempt to try and convince the authorities that ES is very real and a life threatening disease. I just want my life back and it really just depends on the cell phone towers closest to my home. I put my trust in God, that He will put the right people on my path that could assist me in ending this terrible nightmare.

At some point in time, the cell phone industry would have to acknowledge that we are facing a major catastrophe which can’t be reversed. I am pleading with them to see the life through my eyes, put them in my position and see things from my perspective. I am pleading for these cell phone towers to be adjusted and that will give me my life back.

I can assure you that it would be the miracle that our family had been praying for the past 11 years. Not just one, but four people’s future could be changed for the better. I implore you to make some small changes that would have enormous positive repercussions in many people’s lives.

I thank you for this opportunity to put my story in writing and sharing it with you. I put all my trust in our system and believe that it won’t be in vain.

Dear Lloyd, thanks for addressing  my [last] question. Just watched the video The Dark Side of Smart Meters very scary stuff.

Lloyd, they say that “pain is a great motivator”. And well I feel like crap all the time. I feel fatigued, depressed, headaches.

So I search and search for and answer. I try to eliminate all toxins, I quit smoking, taking prescription meds. I been try to eat health foods. Still nothing works.

So I can only guess is it the mercury dental fillings I’ve had in my mouth for the last 30 years, or is it the Aspartamine, or Fukashima? I know what it is .. it all this stuff. It’s the cell phone tower thats 300 yards from my house. It’s the Americium-241 in my Fire Dectector.

I mean I could go on all day listing the stuff that killing us in this day and age.

My friends are getting tired of hearing about me talking about toxins and electromatic radiation. They say ” Can’t you just sit back and enjoy life?”

The answer is no. As long as I feel like crap I can’t enjoy life. So what can I do? Start fighting for my life.

Question, If I buy a trifield emf detector for 127$ U.S. will it also detect the nuclear radiation such as that found in smoke detectors. P.S. Americium-241 is right next to Plutonium-239 so would the AMericium decay into Plutonium? The most deadly toxin substance known to mankind?

Yes they do say “pain is a great motivator” and they also say “what does not kill you makes you stronger” I can identify closely with both these ideas. I became electrically sensitive in 2002, I don’t like to dwell on it much but I do know about pain and suffering, I felt it for every minute, every second of every hour of my day for the best part of 5 years.

Also, when you say “I search and search for an answer. I try to eliminate all toxins, I quit smoking, taking prescription meds. I been try to eat health foods. Still nothing works.”

It might seem as though nothing works, in that you do not feel better, but I can assure you things are working, your body is in a state of crisis, its trying to get out of that crisis….

And yes, your mercury dental fillings (I have mine still), Fukushima, Aspartamine, that cell tower etc etc its very likely that all these things have their part to play in how you are feeling. But lets take it one step at a time. Clearly you are reacting to the EMFs in your environment, you need to do something about it.

“So what can I do? Start fighting for my life.” I prefer not to see this as a fight where there is a winner and a lose, its more a path you take to try and bring more harmony into your life.

You asked me about getting some RF readings. You remember I explained to you in your previous question to me that readings are not as black and white as they may seem.

Accuracy of RF Readings

You see, to get “reliable” results you really need professional equipment and then it helps if you are an electrical engineer, to be able to interpret them. Whereas I use pretty basic equipment. There is a reason I do this, there are several actually, but the main one is I use equipment which anyone can use. The objective is not to get the most accurate readings possible, its to get sufficiently accurate readings in a given environment with a given meter to be able to make decisions about where EMF protection and mitigation is needed most.

I know these readings are sometimes inaccurate. But I also know what an eye opening exercise it is to be able to gain an understanding of what these exposures are. Its about taking action and a meter will enable you to do this.

Second is the problem of general electrosmog. Its difficult to tell the strength of the signal, or field density with RF radiation, in a given location from any one source because there are so many sources contributing. Electrical engineers use a spectrum analyzer to identify different RF sources.  Your main concern is the RF radiation levels in a given place. An RF meter will tell you this, a spectrum analyzer would be overkill.

Some Typical RF Readings

Despite my reservations about giving misleading readings, I did not want to disappoint Chris. So here are some RF readings in volts per meter you might get at 1 meter from the source:

DECT phone 3 V/m

Cell phone 4 V/m

WiFi 2 V/m

Cell towers are more complicated still. Different cell towers give off different levels of radiation depending how many antennas they are equipped with. And even the same cell phone tower can give different readings at different times of the day as more channels are used to enable communications during peak periods. But for a cell tower with multiple carriers you could expect to get readings of 1-2 V/m or more at 500m distance.

Can Nuclear Radiation be measured With An EMF Meter?

No. I am no specialist on nuclear radiation but I do know it is much higher up the EMF spectrum, so a Trifield meter or even an RF meter will not give you any readings for this type of radiation.

What To Do With These RF Readings

First thing is, you do need your own readings. They can vary hugely, not just cell tower radiation (as explained above) , but the other devices also. One brand of DECT phone may emit 50% more or less radiation than another brand.

Secondly its not the RF levels that are important its your exposure to them. How close are you to the cell tower? Thats to say distance from the source. And also duration of exposure. In the above example the cell phone looks the worst culprit but if you are an infrequent cell phone user then cell phones are less of a problem.

And then lets not forget that there is more to electromagnetic fields than just RF readings. For an overview of EMF sources in your home see here.  RF readings and EMF readings generally are just the starting point you then need to act on this information, reduce your exposure  and look at the bigger picture in terms of your health….

can you publish a list with Rf meter levels of the worst offenders. And put them in order with 1 being the highest level reading you can find.

I thought it was such a great question I thought I would share my reply with you:

Hi Chris

It’s not just about RF meter levels of cell phones, or the level of radiation, it’s about the type of radiation (3G and 4G is thought to be worse than earlier generations), the length of your exposure, your proximity to the source (with a cell phone each millimeter from the brain counts), at what times you are exposed to this radiation (I believe night time exposures are many magnitudes worse than daytime ones).

What if we look at just the level of radiation? SAR (specific absorption rate) is supposed to tell us this. And some websites publish lists with phones by SAR, as if this is some sort gauge of safety. The problem is SAR is badly flawed. Cell phones have power-control ranges of over 1000-fold in the power they transmit. Low SAR phones are generally less efficient at getting their signals out to the cell tower and so regularly work at a much higher transmit power to compensate. Meaning increased radiation exposure for you.

The issue is not radiation levels “per se” of different devices its more about how you use them. If you read somewhere the new xyz is the safest phone on the market. You go out and buy that phone, because you think its safer, which it is in certain test conditions, very marginally. But you think the xyz phone is safe, so what do you do? You use it a bit more, you are a bit less careful with the signal bars, you hold it a bit closer to your head etc. Well, any advantage you get from using the xyz phone which has a “lower radiation level” than another phone will be lost many times.

Don’t get sidetracked by radio frequency radiation levels, using your cell phone safely is by far your best line of defense.

What Is So Unique About The Acoustimeter AM-10 RF Meter?

There are two things that really differentiate this meter from other RF meters:

- its exceptional range and sensitivity

- its ease of use

I have found the Acoustimeter AM-10 RF meter to be a very sensitive meter. But apart from being sensitive it also has very good directional sensitivity for a meter that cannot be defined as a directional meter, strictly speaking. Whereas many RF meters just tell you what the level of RF radiation is, with this meter you can in certain circumstances tell where its coming from. By tilting the meter at different angles you can home in on RF sources in your environment, a hidden cell tower or distant WiFi router, which you could never have imagined picking up a signal from. (If  you are testing in an area where there is RF radiation from many different sources then its unlikely that you will be able to get accurate directional readings).

The second point is the frequency range. Many RF meters only measure up to 2 or 3 GHz. More and more wireless appliances are working above this range, whats the point in buying an RF meter if it can’t measure the RF radiation you are being exposed to? The Acoustimeter AM-10 RF meter measures RF radiation from 200 MHz right up to 8 GHz so in terms of wireless radiation there is not much (if anything) that gets past it.

How To Use The Acoustimeter AM-10 RF Meter

First insert the batteries (2 x AA cells) and move the power switch to “on”. Set the volume to a level where you can comfortably hear whats going on and you are good to go. Start moving the meter around slowly, methodically, in all directions all the time listening for any signal and watching the two columns of LED display lights. There is also an LCD display where you can see the RF levels moving up and down in numbers and the peak level since you last switched it on, shown in brackets.

The Acoustimeter AM-10 RF meter can measure from 1 to 100,000 microwatts per square meter [ μW/m2 ] and from 0.02 to 6.00 volts per metre [ V/m ].

How Do I Know When The RF Radiation Is Too High?

The beauty of this meter is its audio function. As soon as you pick up any kind of reading you will hear it on the loud speaker (or on your headset if you plug in on the jack). Then you consult the displays to gain an appreciation of what the radiation levels are exactly. This meter gives you quite a lot of information but if you are looking for a quick and easy way to measure RF levels then just look at the left hand column (the peak V/m readings). Even a reading as low as 0.02 volts per metre (V/m) is shown by a green LED , an increase in radiation levels will then light up more green lights, then the orange LEDs and then the red LEDs.

How you interpret these radiation levels depends on your circumstances. There are 2 things to take into consideration:

1. the duration of exposure

2. your own sensitivity

For instance sleeping in a bedroom with radiation levels at the top end of the scale (a red light in the left hand column) means that you are exposing yourself to high radiation levels over a long period of time, this is not advisable for anyone.

So how do you know when the RF radiation levels are too high? For me personally, as an electrosensitive, I try to ensure that any living areas where I am spending more than a few hours are either giving me zero radiation (no LEDs lit) or radiation at the very bottom of the scale (green LEDs lit).

Is This The Right Meter For You?

You might be concerned about radiation being emitted from a nearby smart meter, or maybe you live in an apartment surrounded by other apartments equipped with WiFi and cordless phones. Maybe you are just someone interested in the health benefits of EMF mitigation, or maybe you are someone who is showing the first signs of electrical sensitivity. If you are worried about the radiation levels in your environment but you don’t know what the culprits are, this meter because of its directional sensitivity is the ideal choice because it can tell you what the principal causes are of these high levels. Once you have determined your exposure levels you can shield and protect as appropriate.

What About The Disadvantages ?

This meter is very sensitive and yet very easy to use, but this does come at a price. Its not the most expensive meter on the market (you can pay thousands for a professional RF meter) but neither is it the cheapest. And it only measures RF radiation, if you want to measure other EMFs like electrical and magnetic radiation this is not the meter for you.

American researchers don’t seem to be worried about cancer risks. The World Health Organization said the risks are slim to none. What are they missing? Well there are some researchers that are concerned and I was quite horrified actually when I began researching to discover that there not only hundreds of studies showing clear evidence of harm, there are in fact thousands of studies. So there is evidence, there is cause to be concerned. That’s extraordinary. Excuse me I’ve got to take a cell phone call, no. I want you to know I’m on a wired connection as we speak.

Wireless Radiation Dangers Facts vs Regulation

Yeah okay, that’s probably quite wise. Is this a case of scientists, given that there are thousands studies and we don’t ever read about them in the newspapers, is this the scientists fudging the numbers? Is it the 5 or 6 corporations that control well over 80% of the media in the United States including over 11,000 magazines? Are the scientists and media acting as corporate shows or have we just somehow overlooked all of this?

It’s a complex situation and I think we’ll know in some years when we look back on this. If we do have a global pandemic of pediatric illness, people are going to ask, “How did this happen?” Well one of the reasons that this happened is that the regulations are not in line with the science, and are not protecting us. So the industry will say these exposure are low, have you heard that, they’re so low.

Combined Effects Of Wireless Radiation and Other Pollution

But nobody is looking at the combined effect of the exposures. My concern is, if we had a factory beside the school and the fumes from this factory had been shown to cause a series of biological effects; weaken the brain blood barrier, damage to DNA, suppression of the immune system, cardiac effects, and cognitive impairment; how long would that factory stay beside the school? There is evidence that this electro-pollution, now of course we can’t see it, we can’t smell it, most of us can’t feel it, but there is evidence that our children are at risk.

If this is true and wireless technology causes cancer how can society manage now that everything is wireless? It’s everywhere, isn’t it? This is the dilemma. Yeah, it’s in your book, you don’t even have to have a cell phone, you’re been irradiated by the towers. That’s right, I call upon parents and grandparents to realize that now we can’t wait. As the Council of Europe pointed out, the health regulators have not been quick off the mark to protect public health from tobacco, asbestos, lead – remember lead and gasoline?

Wireless Radiation Threatens The Health Of Our Children

Yeah. Well they’ve also found lead in babies’ bibs and in children’s toys. So as a parent I really call upon your viewers to realize that we have to take steps. There are safer solutions. We can keep the technology. Kids in schools can have internet access. But it’s a wired hookup or a fiber optic hook up. So I’ve put a plan in place for my family with the input of world leading experts. I really encourage parents and grandparents or anyone that really cares about their health to realize we have to take action. This is what the Council calls precautionary principle and I really feel it’s well worth our children’s risk. The health of our children is at risk. I mean, don’t you think that we should take action to protect them?

Yeah, it seems like quite a rational thing to do and also to take some of those thousands of studies that you have identified and get them wider publicity. Thank you so much for being here with us. Thank you so much for letting people know what I call – the wireless wake up call.

Dr Crofton makes some very good points. But I would go even further, the real problem is not just wireless radiation it is electromagnetic field exposure generally, we all need to be taking steps to reduce our EMF exposure.

It is possible to take matters into your own hands, to do this properly you need:

1. an understanding of the sources of electromagnetic radiation

2. some fairly sensitive EMF measuring equipment.

A basic understanding of how EMFs work is not essential but will also help. This is not something that everyone feels comfortable doing.

Brain tumors and cancer come to mind first.

Diabetes, alzheimers, autism,  premature aging and their relationship to EMF exposure are all things I have talked about here.

Electrosensitivity (ES) is another one, very dear to my heart. But what about ES and  Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) or Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS) is defined in Wikipedia as:

“[the] common name used to designate a significantly debilitating medical disorder or group of disorders generally defined by persistent fatigue accompanied by other specific symptoms for a minimum of six months, not due to ongoing exertion, not substantially relieved by rest, nor caused by other medical conditions.”

Some experts believe that because the symptoms of fibromyalgia and Gulf War syndrome can be so similar to those of chronic fatigue syndrome that all these illnesses may be one and the same. For simplicity I am going to use the term CFS, but you can take it to mean all of the above.

What Causes Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

There is little agreement of what causes CFS. Most experts do agree that it develops from a convergence of conditions that may include the following:

Psychiatric or emotional conditions

Genetic factors

Brain abnormalities

An over-reactive immune system

Viral or other infectious agents

But what if  EMFs cause CFS? What if there are people that are being “labelled” as having CFS when in fact they are suffering from a reaction to EMFs?

Could EMFs cause CFS?

Robert O. Becker, author of Cross Currents, points out “chronic-fatigue syndrome has been found to be widespread in the electronics industry…”

Ryoichi Ogawa, a physician in Kobe, performed a study on CFS and noticed that about 80% of his CFS patients were frequent users on a daily basis of cell phones, personal computers, TV games and other IT devices. He found that “Reduced cerebral blood flow may possibly result from the influence of electromagnetic waves from IT equipment”

A study by Maisch et al, asked the question “is prolonged exposure to environmental level powerline frequency electromagnetic fields a co-factor to consider in treatment of CFS?” They concluded that although the link is not proven, sufficient evidence exists to suggest a causal link between ELF EMFs and cellular dysfunction.

A 1998 study by Roger Coghill suggests that 50 Hz electric fields adversely affect human peripheral blood lymphocytes. He went on to note that “a decrease in human peripheral blood lymphocytes could be implicated in the development of CFS“.

Lucinda Grant in the The Electrical Sensitivity Handbook states “Other at-risk groups for developing Electro Sensitivity seem to be chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) patients…. Because the nervous system is a primary site impacted by both chemicals and electromagnetic fields, those with nervous system damage from toxic exposures seem more susceptible to becoming Electro Sensitive too.”

If EMFs Cause CFS The Treatment Must Include Reducing EMF Sources

Accepted treatments for CFS currently include cognitive behavioral therapy, physical therapy, exercise and antidepressants.

The point is that if EMFs cause CFS, that’s to say if EMFs are creating hormone disruption and biological changes at a cellular level which in turn affects the immune system as long as the source of the EMFs is not addressed, treatment is unlikely to be successful.

That’s why I wanted to share this little talk with you by Paul Doyon. The cameraman needs a little more practice but the message is clear…..

Paul Doyon: “I am Paul Doyon and I’m an American. I was living in Asia for the past 22 years. 6 years ago I got very sick and I didn’t know what was causing it. I had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is an illness that started in 1984 in United States. It was known also as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis in the UK earlier than that.

But in 1984, which just happens to be the first year that they set up the commercial nationwide cell phone network is United States, is the year people started to get sick with what is called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Initially the media called it the yuppie flu because it seemed that yuppies, who were the first people to have computers and cell phones, were the people most likely to get it. It’s 26 years later and they still say they don’t know what causes it. It took me 6 months to figure it out and I was able to cure myself of this disease. I’m one of the 3 % that does.

Governments’ and Telecommunication Companies’ Reaction

It’s a terrible disease and in people that get Chronic Fatigue Syndrome the 3 main causes of death are cancer, heart disease and suicide. Because so many people have it now, governments are trying to say that’s it’s all in your head, because governments are connected with the insurance companies.

I think they know what’s causing it and they don’t want to pay out money. So they are prescribing cognitive behavioral therapy and exercise therapy. Usually it doesn’t work, it makes people worse. People that don’t respond to prescription of this therapy, they throw them into the psychiatric ward and a number of people have actually died. But that is not what we are looking at with regards to the government and what they’re trying to do about the problem.

You know my feeling is the way things are now is that when there’s a problem, it’s not about solving the problem, it’s how we make money off the problem. And the problems just become compounded on themselves, so we never get to the root. That is the way the system is now.

How many people here know somebody with a brain tumor, autism, Alzheimer’s, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, cancer? I mean there are a lot of diseases: autism, ADHD, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and a lot of cancers coming up that we didn’t have 30 years ago. We didn’t have all these before wireless technology. And if you look at the research, connections can be made. A lot of people don’t want to look at the research; they want to maintain the status quo.

The cell phone companies are making lots of money, billions of dollars. They pay the government licensing fees, and there is a big denial that there is anything called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, even though there are all these biological markers. Like adrenaline exhaustion, low natural killer cell counts, heart problems, free radicals in the body, going crazy. There are all these biological markers and they are trying to say that it doesn’t exist; now they are trying to say the same thing about electro-sensitivity.

Electrosensitivity and CFS

A lot of people have electrosensitivity. They get sick when people around them have cell phones. They get sick when they get near the towers. After my little presentation, remember to watch a movie called Full Signal. It goes into detail, talking to experts and people that actually suffer from this problem.

I have electrosensitivity; some people in the audience here also have electrosensitivity. A lot of people don’t believe that there is a problem. Albert Einstein said, “Condemnation without investigation is the home of ignorance.’’ Some things are difficult to believe, I didn’t believe that radio waves, microwaves all this stuff could affect me. I had no idea; it didn’t ever cross my mind.

I was sick for 6 months before I could imagine that radio waves, microwaves, cell phone radiation could be affecting me. But then I considered it a possibility and because I did I was able to recover. It’s hard to believe because we don’t sense this with our 5 senses; we did not evolve to sense this danger.

EMFs Cause CFS and The Beginner’s Mind

But the more I researched it, the more information I got, and the more plausible it became. A lot of people are too quick to brush it off; Oh I don’t believe that is just science, that’s conspiracy theory, or you are a Luddite. They get these words on the TV and they are just repeating what they heard.

But in reality when you get the information, if you do research and you gather information it becomes more plausible. There is a Buddhist monk in Japan that said, “In beginners’ minds there are many possibilities, in the expert’s mind there are a few.” I don’t consider myself an expert on this topic, but I have been researching it for about 6 years and I know a lot more than the average person. So I hope I can share some of that knowledge with you tonight.

I would like to always keep a beginner’s mind, because often I find that experts sometimes put up this wall of arrogance that blocks them from taking in any new information. So I think it’s important to always keep a beginner’s mind and play what’s called the ‘believing game’ rather that the ‘doubting game.’

By noticing things we can enhance our critical intelligence, by ignoring things we can enhance our willful ignorance. So I choose to enhance my critical intelligence by noticing things. I notice when I feel bad, and I notice that it’s often when I’m near a tower or near a Wi-Fi or something like that.”

If EMFs cause CFS or even if they are only one causal factor, I wonder how many people are limiting themselves to treating CFS by solely “conventional means” when EMF mitigation could yield them significant health benefits?
